Writing reports in R Markdown allows you to skip painful and error-prone copy-paste in favor of dynamically-generated reports written in R and markdown that are easily reproducible and updateable. R Markdown reports that are heavy on graphs and maps, though, can yield large HTML files that are not optimized for web viewing. R Markdown is a free, open source tool that is installed like any other R package. Use the following command to install R Markdown: install.packages('rmarkdown') Now that R Markdown is installed, open a new R Markdown file in RStudio by navigating to File New File R Markdown. R Markdown files have the file extension “.Rmd”. Either you've already heard of pandoc or if you have searched online for markdown to pdf or similar, you are sure to come across pandoc. What is a good way to convert R Markdown files to PDF documents? A good solution would preserve as much as possible of the content (e.g., images, equations, html tables, etc.). The solution needs to be able to be run from the command-line. A good solution would also be cross-platform, and ideally minimise dependencies to make it easier to share.
The R Markdown file is a text file where you save all the R commands you want to use, plus any text commenting on the work you are doing and the results you get. 68.5 e powervu keys new. Parts of the file with a plain white background are normal text.
You can format the text. For example, enclosing a word in asterisks will generate italics, so *my text* in the Rmd file will become my text in the PDF. Using two asterisks instead of one will generate boldface, so **my text** becomes my text. You can also make bulleted lists, numbered lists, section headers, and more. For example,

(a sub-section header). Fewer hashtags make the text even larger, and more make it smaller.

The traditional way to beautiful PDFs is often through LaTeX or Word, but have you ever thought of printing a web page to PDF? Web technologies (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) are becoming more and more amazing. It is entirely possible to create high-quality PDFs through Google Chrome or Chromium now. Web pages are usually single-page documents, but they can be paginated thanks to the JavaScript library Paged.js, so that you can have elements like headers, footers, and page margins for the printing purpose. In this talk, we introduce a new R package, pagedown (https://github.com/rstudio/pagedown), to create PDF documents based on R Markdown and Paged.js. Applications of pagedown includes, but not limited to, books, articles, posters, resumes, letters, and business cards. With the power of CSS and JavaScript, you can typeset your documents with amazing elegance (e.g., a single line of CSS, 'tr:nth-child(even) { background: #eee; }', will give you a striped table, and 'border-radius: 50%;' gives you a circular element) and power (e.g., HTML Widgets).
